Peter Elikann is a well known criminal defense attorney, author of books on the criminal justice system, and a television legal commentator. During the last several years, he has given speeches around the country, appeared as a legal analyst on thousands of television and radio programs including MSNBC and the Fox networks and is a regular expert commentator on the Court TV network, and has had dozens of articles printed in both national and Massachusetts law publications.

Once a television news reporter for WRC-TV in Washington, D.C. and other stations, a newspaper reporter and a college law instructor, Attorney Elikann now writes on legal issues for newspapers, legal periodicals and law reviews. In addition, he drafts legislation, serves on numerous boards. and is a frequent lecturer on criminal justice policy issues. His most common area of expertise concerns alternatives to incarceration.

He is past chairman of the Criminal Justice Section of the Massachusetts Bar Association; former chairman of the Corrections and Sentencing Committee of the Massachusetts Bar Association and its subcommittee on alternatives to incarceration; a member of editorial board of the Massachusetts Law Review; a member of the American Bar Associations' Committee on Corrections and Sentencing; a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers; and a member of the Massachusetts Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
